Spencer swam competitively for twelve years. Starting out at the age of eleven with NCSA in Airdrie, Alberta Spencer competed nationally attending competitions such Western Canadian Championships and Canadian Age Group Nationals where he placed relatively high. Upon graduation Spencer moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to attend University. Here he competed for his five years of eligibility where he attended Canadian Westerns (university athletes only) for all of his five years as well as coming very close in his first two years to qualifying for Canadian CIS swimming. He learned most everything he knows about coaching from amazing Canadian coaches such as David Loyola and Tom Ponting. While attending the University of Lethbridge Spencer began to coach the Stage 2 program there for two years. After that he moved onto there Stage 3 program where he still continues to coach on some days. This year he has moved onto competitive coaching for LASC’s Olympic Way group.
